Christopher Cross Jacksonville Concert reviews
Better late than never
The Genesee Theater is nice headliner and touring musical outlet. It’s in downtown Waukegan IL and has lot’s of safe and cheap parking.
Originally when Christopher Cross went on sale (pre-COVID) I was after a couple memories and a reason to sneak in a date night with the Mrs.
Why did I want to go?
I saw him tour this album just before it took off for the stratosphere as a warmup for Fleetwood Mac (I think) @ the Rosemont Horizon circa ‘79.
Christopher Cross was a part of this treasure trove of awesome studio musicians that existed at the time and with his musical family right there on stage with him, (probably thinking they may have only a few gigs to prove themselves) took full advantage of the situation, strapped on the double neck guitars and they blew us away for 45 minutes and then they split, leaving us wanting for more… as it should be.
Fast forward 41 years…
The show was postponed twice due to Covid and I took advantage of the offer at one point for a refund on the tickets. Thank you Artist and Ticketmaster. So, I was fed up with the whole thing and wasn’t going.
But I still get emails telling me what’s going on so, at the last minute I asked the Mrs. for a date, bought new tickets and went to the show.

We were happy we went and we had a good time.
He needed someone to fill in for Michael McDonald on those 3 songs he’s on, that was really missing, and the back up singers were
Ok just OK.
Context: Christopher got a complication after contracting COVID-19. He ended up with paralysis, couldn’t walk or play the guitar… I mean this guy must have been so depressed.
He had intense therapy…
Anyway, he’s getting better and the road must be therapeutic for him too.
So Overall, the show was like a 6 out of 10… but considering the circumstances I am happy he’s alive, and performing what must feel like a final tour of sorts.
I wish some of those original guys and gals could have joined him on this tour but whatever.
So check him out if you are old like me, or like “Yacht Rock”, or you can also see him on tour with Ringo Starrs All-Star Band!
